This ancient temple of Lamphun is said to be visited by Lord Buddha who hung his robe on the cliff. "PhraPhutthaBat" means "Lord Buddha" while "TakPha" means "hang robe." The chedi is the mixed style of the PhraThat DoiSuthep and PhraThat Haripunchai. A naga stairway connects the chedi on MonDoi and Wat PhraThat TakPha at the foothill.
