ILLUMINATED BOAT PROCESSION
( October - November, Mekhong River, NakhonPhanom )

This annual event represents a traditional Loi Krathong ceremony of northeasterners marking the end of the Buddhist Lent. Boats are made of natural materials such as bamboo or banana barks. The procession starts on the streets during the day before the boats are illuminated and launched onto the Mekhong (Mekong) River after the religious rites at night.
