Being the heart of the Khmer Empire, Phimai was located in the center of the road south to Angkor Wat in Cambodia. It is the largest sandstone, most complete, most famous Khmer religious construction in Thailand. Though being a Khmer temple, it's lintel and pediments depict Buddhist themes from Ramayana.
