This City Pillar Shrine houses a stone pillar placed by King Rama I as the foundation stonefor a capital city of Bangkok. The pillar is recognized sacred by Bangkokian and believed by many people to have the power of granting wishes. The pillar was made from holy wood, Chia-ya-phruek. The Shrine was built in square shape with colorful mosaic ornament. You may luckily witness the scene of classical dances done in the worship of Pillar.
