ROYAL PLAZA
( Dusit, Bangkok )
The plaza is used for many ceremony including the Trooping of Colors on the 4th of December, PiyaMaharat Day Ceremony on the 23th of October. At the center of the plaza is the Monument of King Rama V the Great. He was the beloved king and still is for all Thai. Tuesday, his birthday, is the day when people gather to worship him with flowers. This is an impressive scene one should never miss. On the mid way from the monument to the fence on the east, there is a round metal plate stuck on the ground. The plate marks the point where a military leader stood declaring the change of Thai political ideology from Absolute Monarchy to Democracy Monarchy in 1932.
