This is the last major temple built in central Bangkok. Influenced by European architecture. Its nickname, Marble Temple, derives from the grey Italian Carrara marble used to clad the walls. This is the most beautiful temple of RattanaKosin era with cruciform plan and cascading roofs. Its proportion is recognized as the best in classic Thai architecture. A normal scene in the morning is people offering food to monks with the background of golden sunlight flooding over the glittering ornaments on the roof of the Temple. In the main chapel to see the main Buddha image. This is the replica of the original most famous Sukhothai-style Buddha image named Phra Phutha Chianarat in Phitsanulok Province.
