Built by King Rama III who was known for his taste of Chinese design, the temple has Chinese statues dotted around the courtyard and the Chinese-style polygonal chedi. It is popular among Chinese whose rituals are oftenly performed here. Also at the temple ground is the largest bronze bell in Thailand. The large golden Buddha image in the main chapel is called Luang Pho To (the Large Monk). This is the largest sit-position image in Bangkok. It is also refered by Chinese as Sam Po Kong.
